MLC Life Insurance's group insurance business boosts team for the future

MLC Life Insurance has boosted its group insurance team for the future as the company continues to focus on providing strong value to superfunds, trustees and members.

Suzanne Smith, Chief Customer Officer, Group Insurance at MLC Life Insurance has expanded the team with a number of recent appointments and introduced a new team focused on clients solutions – strengthening its partnership expertise, pricing and product innovation and solutions focus.

Off the back of winning the group insurance tenders for Vision Super earlier this year and Energy Super in 2016, Suzanne said the business is continuing to evolve to meet the needs of members, superfunds and trustees.

"As the life insurance sector undergoes vast change and member expectations shift, we need to ensure we're providing the right support to superfunds now and in the future. With a commitment to working with superfunds to provide more value, we want to play a larger role in group insurance market and challenge the more established group insurers," said Suzanne.

"We're thrilled to bring together a talented group of professionals as we continue our plans to innovate and grow, while viewing everything through the lens of our superfunds, trustees and members. We want to support them in the best possible way and deliver great experiences. These appointments are essential to achieving our business plans."

The team includes appointments with extensive experience, bringing a wealth of knowledge and a variety of strengths to the team. These appointments broaden the team's existing bench strength and include:

  • Phil Mullins, is the Head of Pricing and Profitability who joined from CommInsure, bringing strong experience from the financial services sector;

  • Eliana Leopold has joined from Suncorp, bringing strong experience in leadership, service excellence and customer-inspired solutions and is Head of Client Solutions;

  • George Nafpliotis has joined from TAL to lead Product Innovation which will play a key role in transforming and creating product solutions for our clients;

  • Holly Nicholas (nee Rushton) has joined from TAL as a Senior Partnership Manager in the Strategic Partnerships team and brings strong experience in claims and relationship management;

  • Michele Armstrong has joined as Pricing Analytics Manager and brings strong experience in the life insurance sector;

  • Ann-Maree Lynch has joined the team from Suncorp, as Transition Experience Manager, a role critical to ensure we continue to manage seamless tender and transition delivery;

  • Cory Deakin has joined from ANZ as Product Innovation Manager bringing a wealth of experience from business development, policy design and product development.

The new client solutions team, led by Eliana Leopold, Head of Client Solutions, plays an important role in supporting all areas of the group insurance business.

"We've created a hub that works in partnership with clients to devise tailored solutions to help meet their needs and the needs of their members. The team also work closely with clients to roll out new services including our new LifeView portal and the recently launched Mental Health Navigator service by Best Doctors," said Suzanne.

These changes come following a number of enhancements made by MLC Life Insurance, including the launch of its LifeView portal – part of a range of technology advancements through its multi-million dollar transformation program, which is focused on delivering the most advanced digital infrastructure across technology, processes and systems in the industry and to better serve superfunds and members.
