These initiatives apply to retail and group insurance customers of MLC Life Insurance, including members of superannuation funds.

To be eligible, customers must have a date of disablement between 11 March 2020 and 1 January 2021 inclusive, the cover must be in force and be paid up to the date, and the claim must be lodged on or before 31 March 2021.

11 March 2020 corresponds with the date the World Health Organisation declared Coronavirus a pandemic.

If a customer is unemployed or working less than a certain number of hours each week, the TPD definition that ordinarily applies may be based on the customer’s ability to carry out Domestic Duties, Activities of Daily Living or Activities of Daily Work.

If a customer was employed and/or working at least the minimum number of hours prior to 11 March 2020 a more generous TPD definition may apply and the customer would be assessed on whether they are able to work again based on their education, training or experience.
