We know money isn’t the only support you need when you’re ill or injured.
That’s why we take a holistic approach – supporting your overall health and wellness in the early stages of an illness or injury and throughout your claim journey. It doesn’t matter what type of insurance cover you have or what your claim is, we’ll provide you with tailored support every step of the way. Our aim is to help you achieve the best possible outcome for your situation.
What support do you need?
How we support you
Our industry-leading recovery programs and support services are there to help you through an illness or injury - before, during, and after a claim. You’ll be appointed a dedicated recovery specialist to support you during your journey. They’ll seamlessly transition you between programs as your health needs change and claim progresses.
Our recovery programs include a comprehensive range of resources and services, chosen specifically to support your situation.
How you’re appointed a recovery specialist
If you’re accessing Early Access and Pre-claim support, you’ll be appointed a recovery specialist when you contact us to enrol in a program. If you’ve already made a claim, your case consultant will organise a recovery specialist for you.
Holistic SupportWe help you achieve the best possible health outcome by looking beyond just physical health, with support for your mental and social wellbeing too.
What is physical health and why is it important?
Your physical health is central to your overall wellbeing. Good physical health is defined by a lack of illness, injury or disease, and the presence of healthy behaviours. Achieving and maintaining good physical health improves your life expectancy and quality of life. You can improve your physical health through lifestyle choices, including physical activity, nutrition and diet, and good sleep habits.
How we help you achieve better physical health
We’ve partnered with specialist providers, Guardian Exercise Rehabilitation and Specialised Health, to help you achieve better physical health outcomes. These providers can support your physical health while you’re making a claim, by working with you to implement tailored programs.
What is mental health and why is it important?
Your mental health is a combination of your emotional and psychological wellbeing. It can impact the way you think, feel and act.
How we help you achieve better mental health
We recognise that mental health is critical to your overall wellbeing. That’s why we offer a range of support options, including:
A dedicated and specialised support service designed to help anyone suffering from anxiety or depression. You might consider using Mindset4Life when claiming on Income Protection insurance.
A service that provides you and your family with access to expert mental health guidance and second opinions during your diagnosis and treatment. You and your family can access this service at any time.
Community Services Guide
We can connect you with a wide range of mental-health related community services. Organisations such as Black Dog Institute, Beyond Blue and Lifeline offer support through resources like articles, videos, phone apps and participation programs, as well as phone, messaging and video conferencing services.
What is social health and why is it important?
Social health is your ability to interact and form meaningful relationships with others. The quality and quantity of your social relationships can have both short and long-term impacts on your health.
An injury or illness might have a negative impact on your social health, making it harder to stay connected with your colleagues, friends and the wider community
How we help you stay connected and get reconnected
Community and social engagement support
We partner with several rehabilitation providers to help prevent social disconnection, while supporting you as you regain your confidence and social network.
Community Services Guide
We can connect you with community-based services that are easily accessible and suited to your individual needs.
Why is returning to work important?
Returning to work can improve your self-esteem and the way you perceive your health. It can reduce psychological stress and increase physical health and financial wellbeing. Throughout your claim, we can offer support services to help you get back to work sooner.
“Long-term worklessness is one of the greatest risks to health in our society. It is more dangerous than the most dangerous jobs in the construction industry.”1
How we help you get back to work sooner
We want to help you stay at work longer or return to work as soon as you can (where appropriate). This might mean cooperating with your employer or helping you find new employment through our job-seeking services. We can also give you access to retraining and business coaching services.
