MLC Life Insurance appoints new Chief Claims Officer

MLC Life Insurance has appointed Natalie Cameron, former Chief Executive Officer of AIA New Zealand, as its new Chief Claims Officer.

Following an extensive search, Natalie will officially join the business on July 10, and will report directly to CEO David Hackett as a member of MLC Life Insurance’s Leadership Team.

Natalie joins the business during a period of rapid growth and expansion. Natalie will be leading MLC Life Insurance’s 350-strong claims team and accelerating the company’s claims transformation program. The program is harnessing state of the art technology to improve claims handling for customers and claims professionals.

In the year to 1 October 2016, MLC Life Insurance paid $900 million in claims.

In May 2017, MLC Life Insurance announced a partnership with ClaimVantage to use its leading claim management software platform – ClaimFirst -  to process its retail Income Protection and Total and Permanent Disability claims. ClaimFirst is a cloud-based, automated life and health claim processing solution built on the Force.com platform.

David Hackett, Chief Executive Officer, MLC Life Insurance said:

“Natalie is a highly accomplished professional who joins us in a period of tremendous growth in the wake of our new partnership with Nippon Life Insurance. Her experience in the industry is broad and deep. She will be joining our executive and claims team as we move ahead with our goal of becoming the leading and most trusted life insurer in Australia. I’m pleased that we are attracting such great talent to our business, and I warmly welcome her to MLC Life Insurance.”

Natalie joins MLC Life Insurance directly from her role as CEO of AIA New Zealand, where she nearly doubled new retail business share growth during the two years to December 2016.

Natalie commenced her career as an insurance and litigation lawyer at Clayton Utz before becoming a lawyer at ASIC.  She initially joined AIA Australia in 2005 and was appointed General Counsel & Company Secretary in 2007.  Later, she spent three years as AIA Australia’s Chief Operating Officer as well as 10 months as its Chief Group Insurance Officer.

Speaking about her appointment, Natalie said:

“I am delighted and honoured to be joining such an Australian icon as MLC Life Insurance, especially at this exciting time for the company and its customers.  I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to be working with a great team to drive the claims transformation program.  Delivering a superior claims experience is critical for our customers in their time of need.”
